With its cozy ambiance and space full of natural light, The Gardens is the perfect spot for long, conversation-filled brunches with the family or girlfriends you haven’t bonded with for a while. Their menu is full of the good stuff, whether you’re watching the pounds, want to load up on carbs, or have a sweet tooth, there’s a treat waiting for you. Among the specials we tried were the Gardens Brunch Pasta featuring their signature soft boiled egg with an open shell simulating a bird’s egg on a nest of pasta with creamy white sauce and veggies, the Baked Egg Chorizo best eaten with dipped French bread, special Café Latte with a shot of chlorophyll for energy boost, Rum Glazed Banana Pancake that was such a sweet treat, the uber healthy Acai Breakfast Bowl chock-full of the good stuff, a guilt-free Grilled Chicken Sandwich, and finally, the savory Truffle Eggs with Mushrooms and Cheese that really hit the spot. The Garden is worth the trip to The Grove for a new take on brunching that’s not inside a building or a busy mall. It’s the laidback weekend treat you’ve been looking for!
If you think Sunrise Buckets only serve their famous wings good for happy hour, you’ll be delighted to know their brunch sets are just as scrumptious! While it may not be the typical brunch setting (funky lights, lively music, American décor all around), the food says otherwise. If you happen to be craving a sweet savory brunch dish, make sure to try their Hot N’ Sticky Maple Chicken Waffle with a side of wings coated with their signature hot n’ sticky maple sauce. If you’ve got your mini-me with you, treat her to the Rainbow Sprinkle Pancake featuring their New York pancake batter with rainbow sprinkle candies. If you prefer breakfast on the go, order the Pancake Sliders with New York buttermilk pancakes, American cheese, sunny side up egg, and bacon strips all in between pancake buns. Now, that’s a breakfast sandwich!
We may not be a country where pies are a typical breakfast of choice as nothing compares to a Filipino brekky of tapa, tocino, egg, and fried rice. Pi Breakfast & Pies dares to challenge that notion with their best-selling pies that are really TDF! You’ll notice the goodies front and center the moment you open the door; the delicious round pastries may look unassuming and rather basic, but once you take a forkful of their best sellers, you’ll never look at pies the same way. The straightforward recipes are addicting, to say the least; the sweetness, tartness, and layers of flavors of every pie is done just right. We had our fill of their savory dishes, too, namely the best-selling Caramelized Spam with kimchi rice that is an awesome mix of spicy and sweet. The Beef Brisket Corned Beef is also excellent, homemade corned beef served with herb garlic fried rice and double sunny side up with your choice of original, chili, or garlic. As for the pies?—the Smack pie with cereal crust won our hearts (unbelievably good), the Orange and Lime was just as amazing and the right mix of tart and sweet, while the S’mores is a great version of the beloved dessert everyone loves.
No doubt that Starbucks is the go-to coffee and breakfast joint for people on the go, probably on a daily basis. We chose to highlight their healthier fare, for those who prefer a light first meal of the day. The whole wheat bagel and oatmeal coupled with their latte is just what you need to jumpstart a hectic schedule and will get you by until lunchtime, when the going gets tough (and you need to get going). Did we mention the place is spacious enough for a get together, a serene working atmosphere, and smells of heavenly coffee beans and pastries? ‘Nuff said.
